The Basics

This is a comic. (Duh.) It's called Bunny/Kiwi and is created by Phil Werk (me). What is Bunny/Kiwi? I like to think of it as a bunny rabbit, a kiwi bird, and a whole lot of randomness... Generally, I post 3 new comics a week, available to view on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each update includes a new color comic strip, a short newspost with my comments on the strip, and a video-blog by either Mel or Butterscotch showing their reactions to the events of that day's strip. The fist comic was completed on May 14th, 2007, but the ideas had been bouncing around for quite some time before that. The two main characters are Butterscotch James Bunny, a bunny rabbit, and Melchizedek Jonathan Kiwi (Mel), a kiwi bird. Both Mel and Butterscotch are based on stuffed animals from my childhood that I personified. Originally, Butterscotch was kind of a sly, quick witted, and somewhat arrogant character, while Mel played his dim-witted foil. More recently, however, and for the purposes of this strip, both characters have become more complex and interchangeable. Both can be equally silly, smart, foolish, or even insightful. I don't particularly identify with one character over the other, but rather see parts of myself reflected in both Mel and Butterscotch. In the end, they are who they are, and that's something that's bound to evolve, just like a real personality.

Meet the Main Characters!

	Butterscotch is pretty much your typical anthropomorphic bunny rabbit. In fact, he may be a lot like you... He's stuck in a dead end, white-collar job at TechCorp. At times he struggles with depression and The "Emo Curse". He also has issues with road rage and is growing frustrated with the online dating scene. In general, he spends a lot of time on the internet, (in all it's various forms...) Butterscotch is always coming up with crazy ideas and playing pranks on his best friend Mel. Probably more than anything else, Butterscotch loves cheese.
	Mel is a free spirited dreamer. He's a bit rough around the edges but he always means well. After successfully negotiating several different lawsuit settlements, Mel became quite rich and traveled briefly in Antarctica. As a native of New Zealand, Mel has run into several sticky situations with the US government. Married at one point, Mel is once again single and has been struggling with an unrequited crush on Peep. He was temporarily aided by the magic churro that he obtained from his future self. Mel has had several fledgling business attempts, including The First Church Of The Pole and, most recently, LoMeinia!
	Peep is the token female character. She's recently returned from a somewhat mysterious absence. Friends with both Mel and Butterscotch, she prefers to remain friends, despite Mel's repeated advances. Not a lot is known about Peep, other than she likes to party and she loves LoMein.
	Franz the Nazi Monkey is a monkey ...and a Nazi! (Both in the traditional sense and the grammar sense.) He hangs around the guys occasionally and he recently started dating Peep.
